A nice little Johnson HD-25 followed me home from Muskegon yesterday. It’s got dark-colored (red, maybe?) rewind rope with a cable in the core. Any one know of a source for the stuff? The first two feet or so is worn down to the wire, and I’d like to replace it when I scatter it for restoration.

      Thanks!

I say "pardon me" a lot. I had a 20H, then raced open mod sleds.

Be sure the bronze cable has not damaged the housing. If so, it will quickly tear up the new cable. Many are replacing that marune waxed cotton covered bronze cable with woven nylon. Same caution applies. The ends must be fused with heat to keep the nylon from unraveling. A roll pin should be installed after the anchor slot to hold the rope against the inner diameter of the rope sheave (pulley). Be sure to use plenty of rope. In any case, never pul the rope all the way out.

        – or you may have to get towed in . . . 😆
