I have a 1964 Johnson JW-19 with right angle standard drive and would like to reseal the lower unit. The prop shaft seal is part number 310328 and no longer available from OMMC. and I can’t find one anywhere on the internet. I’ve tried eBay, Marineengine.com and Google search but can find nothing. Anyone know where I can get one? Thanks

seal shops also have something that fits if you know the measurements

see the story …seems a metric size seal did the job

October 29, 2018 at 4:12 pm #85169Do you still have the old seal? If so, look for a seal manufacturer’s part number stamped into it, which back then is likely a "CR" followed by 3 or 4 digits. The CR company is Chicago Rawhide, which is now "SKF" SKF’s website has cross-reference tables from the old CR numbers to new SKF numbers, even if it was a special number they set up for Johnson; or you can call them on the phone and customer service will cross ref it for you and tell you where in your area there is a seal/bearing shop where you can buy one. The Johnson part number you have may or may not be a number SKF can cross-reference.
This site may be what you need if you have the old number stamped into the part:

October 29, 2018 at 4:15 pm #85170The reason you are having trouble finding that seal is because the 310328 P/N superceded to 382586 which is the complete head assembly, including the seal. They are out there, and quite reasonably priced to!

October 30, 2018 at 3:31 am #85198I just pulled up the board and in my reply two posts above, the site addresses I posted are not showing up, although when I go to edit the post, they are there. I see others have reported funky stuff today with URLs, etc., so I’ll wait until tomorrow and see if it works and if not, try to fix it again.
What is not showing up are SKFs site pages for cross referencing and for entering dimensions, which you can find by searching the web, etc. May be I have to wait a couple days until the new site software happens.
