Anyone have a digital parts manual for the subject outboard?
I was going to throw this one on the trailer going to Tomahawk,
but decided I might try to revive it as it appears to be the
first year for the "twist grip" throttle, which my QD-13
doesn’t have, and I remember while on the lake with it,
thinking that that little powerhouse sure could use one!

My QD-13 runs great, but I neglected to put in my notes
      what compression it has.
The QD-14 I wan’t to get running has 65 PSI top and bottom.
Not sure that will be in the "good runner" catagory, but
I’ll find out before I dump money into the lower unit.

The port side "hood / vertical control mount bracket" is
broke, so a part number would be great to add to my
      "parts needed" list at Tomahawk.
      Thanks!

          Bucc,
I’ll find a nice QD-14 and QD-15 someday. I like the style of the early QDs and a twist grip throttle with the front shift makes for a really nice motor if you ask me. The ’53 is indeed the first year of the twist grip throttle. The ’54 is the first year for the up and off cowl and the second and final year for the seahorse cast into the tower.

My QD-13 had about 72psi top and bottom when I started out with it. It seemed a bit low, but OK. It runs great and has good power. I have not re-checked it since putting a few hours of run time on it. Your ’53 could just have partially stuck rings or something that may free up with some use and improve the compression. I’m sure it’s been sitting a while and it’s dry too. It will run at thise numbers. I’d try it and see how it turns out. I don’t have the parts manual.

Mumbles, THANKS! Looks like if the QD runs okay I’ll need bracket 303105.

Ben, I’m lucky if most of my motors get out on the lake once after
I get them running……. time will tell if the QD-14 will be
a Lake Cruiser or just a "Barrel Racer" 😮
