I have replaced the rope and after a few pulls the knot pulls all the way through. Are there any tricks to keep that from happening?

Same happened to me. I just tied a two knots so it was larger. Working so far.

Drill a round hole in another location. Then never pull the rope all the way to the end. To do so will cut the knot off quicker than you can blink.

The original starter cord would have had a wire core and a hook, or anchor on the end to grab that slot.

make a not and fire up the loose end about a half inch of cord into a flaming glob

then flatten the molten nylon with a flat blade

just replaced my wire core on a qd

I use the roll pin method shown in Garry’s post paired with the mashed flaming glob crosbyman posted when I replace my wire core starter ropes in these motors. Also, as Frank R said, do not pull to the end of the rope. The roll pin helps take a good amount of the load off the knot, but it does not prevent the knot from being cut off if the rope is pulled all the way to the end.
