Here’s a pic of the complete boat as I was departing for the Lake on Saturday.
      Loved the "sex-on-the-water" comment.

Boat was headed to the burn pile before I got wind of it.Feels good to have saved it.
Took awhile to "conserve", but all part of the fun & learning to my mind.

      Bill.

Fantastic looking rig. Beautiful restoration on both boat and motors.

Your boat would have fit right in at the museum I went
              to last week! Nice!

              Prepare to be boarded!

                Bill,

Very nice restoration and congrads on saving the boat from the burn pile. I don’t know how many Lakefield boats survive. Here’s mine:

                  Steve,
VERY nice boat too. Is that an Evinrude 15 hp on it?
I have a Peterborough Lakeside powered with a ’58 Johnson 18hp, that looks very similar.
Fun little boats, so easily launched and operated, often "simple is better" .

                    Bill,

It’s a 1951 Johnson QD-12 10 hp. Love to see a pic of the Lakeside with the 18. How does it run with that motor? I have a ’56 FD-10 15HP that I’m presently restoring that I thought might work well on the boat.

That brings back so many memories!! I grew up with a very similar boat….my grandmother’s 14′ 1953 Thompson + 15HP15012 SuperFastwin. Man, we had some fun back then!

                        Steve H.,
The 18hp really works beautifully for my Peterborough, which is "rated" for exactly that hp. and really scoots along at WOT. Very easy on gas compared to the Big Twins too.
My Lakeside has the same large deck at the bow as your Lakefield, and I’ve rigged it up with remote controls.
This boat was also in pretty bad shape, having served most of its life at a fishing camp.
I had found a set of original back rests, so decided to go that route.
Windshield is a home made effort.
No electrics, no battery, nice and simple.

                        Bill.
