      Could the wrong kind of oil cause the motor to smoke more than usual?

        Yes, I would get rid of that gas and start over with a 24/1 mix with a good brand TCW3 outboard oil. The Poulan oil may cause excessive smoking, but that motor will smoke anyway with a 24/1 mix.. so that’s normal. You will need to run the motor full throttle and adjust the high speed needle FIRST, then idle down to a trolling speed to do the low speed needle. Glad you got it fixed!

          Thanks, Jerry. Been working on this motor for about 3 months now, so I’m delighted to see it finally coming to gather. Got a brand new 14′ Jon boat in the yard that hasn’t seen water yet waiting on a motor.
