Picked up a nice TN27 earlier this summer…$50-$60 CDN …can’t remember …it was dirt cheap anyway 🙂

I pulled the flywheel and found…..
new coils, points etc…. except plug wires that I will replace in the coming month,

I’ll do a good carb cleaning, change new pump seals and check the impeller out to replace it anyway as per the Poche Family info
      http://www.pochefamily.org/outboard/CarbService.html

anything tricky stuff I need to know. Aside from a little Elto Cub this is my oldest engine tackled yet .

btw compression will be measured soon but I can already feel a real strong resistance on the cyl’s.

here are a couple of pics. aside from worm decals, bumps on the tank the rest is kind of pretty good. skeg prop & all

I’ll clean up the mag plate from scratch, add new plug wires etc…
I need to pull the impeller and find a replacement I think the rest will be just fine

Looks good. Be careful of the ground wires on the coils. The one on the left already looks like it has a little flywheel wear from the hub rubbing it. Good luck with your motor. It’s a very clean looking example under the cowl.

thanks aside from some negligence on the tank (bumps) the owner said it was in running condition and based on the fact the coils got changed it is probably true…

the coil wires were not tucked away as they should have been but no arm done except some chaffing . maybe.. maybe they had some ignition trouble ..that green wire also looks close enough to the cam to rub… it is to be rerouted anyway

i need to trace those black wires on the points ??? maybe a kill circuit ?? tbd

Crosbyman, well I too just picked up a tn27 but for free! But needs a lot more work. Get what you pay for I guess.

                  Missing shift arm
                  Carb mix knob,
Few of head bolts missing and looks like no head gasket either.

Anybody have a parts diagram they like to share ?
