my new to me 9.5 which came with a CD15 plate 😯 …. has a solid gearcase (non-splitting) like they began around 1974 …an up wards on the 9.9 hp version

the engine faceplate on the cowl says 9.5 but the solid gearcase speaks 74 and up & according to parts diagrams on that site we all look at
      it is a 9.9 hp

I never took one of those l.u. apart . I found a few drops of water in the l.u.
If sealing the l.u is to complicated I may just refill with fresh oil on occasion

any special procedure/tools to reseal these solid bodied L.U. … & their hard to access gears and seals …

      meanwhile I go surf utube….

update#1.. I looked at parts diagrams they show a prop with rubber drive core yet my engine has a standard old style drive pin shaft

it is like it has one foot in the pre 74 world of split gear cases & drive shaft and one foot in the post 74 solid gearcases yet it drives the prop with a drive/shear pin about .185inch diameter by 1.5 inch long

Is the drive pin near the gearcase or toward the threaded end of the driveshaft? Any way to see a picture of that gearcase. I’ve never seen a 9.5 that didn’t have a split gearcase.

the drive pin is near gear case at he back of the prop …

the drive shaft thread hole is for the cotter pin to lock in the prop plastic nose cone

solid gearcase is typical on 74s and up
motor came with a full circle prop protector bolted to the cavitation plate and tip of the keel

The props with the drive pin near the gearcase do have a rubber drive hub inside. Here are a couple pictures of one I spun in my ’59 Sportwin.

In that first pic, there seems to be the remains of a seam… Could the PO have welded the case halves together? Could try scuffing some paint off and look for welds, especially the underside where the screws would be…

If you have too many, AND not enough, you're a collector.
