Not sure if this was a good idea or not, but I just bought 3 old Johnsons, all the same model. One has good compression with no spark or carb, one has spark with lower unit issues and the third one is apart but has a carb! My goal is to restore one and make it a running motor. I don’t see any ID numbers on the motors, but it is a small HP twin cylinder model. Attached are 2 pics that will probably tell the story. My question is what is the year or years of the motor and what is the model number. If you need more info or pics would be glad to help. Thanks ………..Alvins

        My guess is HD-20 – a slightly bigger twin would be a TD-15. . . 😉

The Model number should be stamped on the port side of the block
          on a flat spot.

          Prepare to be boarded!

Thanks for the reply. The motors are stamped TD 20. How many HP is that? Can the serial # tell me additional info?

Thanks for all your input. Now I know what i have. Was the original color green similar to the old Firestone outboards. I love that color!

That would be Sea Mist Green.

The TDs are nice little motors and there are a zillion of them out there. Most are dented up form bouncing in the trunk of a car in between fishing day boat rentals. The primer button will likely need a new leather piece.
