I have the 1937 ELTO Scout, myself. I believe that is the only year of the Scout. 1938, was the first year of the Ranger.
Evinrude models had lower cowls and the ELTO’s did not.

It’s hard not to notice how similar the Scout and Pal motors are to the early Neptune Mighty Mites with the heart shaped tank. The gas tanks look like they would interchange. Was there any relationship between the company’s of Evinrude and Neptune on these motors?

          Good question for Doug Penn.
He has all the Neptune inventory.

It seems that Doug Penn has already written an answer to this question.

yep, the gas cap is in the same place as my original one is on the back of the tank I wonder if my restored one has a pal tank and scout decals? 😉

These little singles, from the Mate, on up had that little poppet valve carb and those things were very simple to operate, and rebuild.

An excellent article Ben. Thank you for posting that. I have 4 Mighty Mites of 3 design generations in the basement waiting for restoration. I stocked up on parts from Doug Penn this past summer as he said he was running out of some of them. Now I just need the time to dive in.
