      Perhaps a little more than I intended was read into my post. I was not saying you could forsake new rings by my new and ground breaking method. 😀 I was trying to share a thought process I had at the time. I was short of funds. I know how to hone cylinders quite well…thank you. We hone to create wear. If the rings cant wear. I/E new rings. you are doing half the job. By scuffing the rings I gave both parts the ability to wear in. as far as removing metal. Really any machinist knows scuffing is almost unmeasurable metal removal. As far as ring gap….built so many motors .. never thought to address it. I shove the rings in and I know if it is good or not. Disclaimer. I was not building a NASCAR motor. I was not building an APBA motor. I did what I described and it worked out fantastic. Debate as you wish…
