I’m looking for recommendations on a reputable person/company that is capable of restoring a 1957 Johnson 35HP both mechanically and cosmetically. Must be quality first.

      Thanks.

I appreciate all the responses. Many of the excellent people that were recommended graciously reached out to me and explained they were "hanging up their hat" or were going to "focus on their projects".

      That said….

being new to this, is there a demand that outstrips the qualified artists left/available to do this type of quality work?

Are AOMCI members, and others, able to find quality restorations?

If not, any opinions on what it would take to get involved in this area of expertise?

Where are you located? Do you want just a mechanical restoration, or do you want cosmetic as well.

Thanks, but I think Im hanging up my hat on restos! For a while anyways.

You do so many and it turns into a job. I am going to focus on my own motors for a while now.

Some of the guys that I know of that do restos in Canada are:

                  http://www.old-outboard.com/
http://www.nymarine.ca (might have also given this up)

Im sure there are members in the US doing cosmetic restos, just not sure who they are.

                    quote 57johnson:

                    both. quality first.

Im not sure if Mumbles does motors for others, but I would pay his asking price for one of his restorations! Beautiful stuff.

I have done a few, but like Chris_P it gets to be a job, and I already have 3 of those…lol

Example of what you "should" get:

                      classicomctools@gmail.com

Both of Richards examples define "quality first".
