Does anyone know a source for a replacement (new or used OEM), or any sort of aftermarket or substitute gas cap for a 1952 Mercury KF5 Super 5 outboard engine? This originally was a red, plastic cap.

I swore I found some replacements online a couple of months ago, but now I can’t seem to find them.

I’m unsure of the thread diameter or pitch, or whether this was a common gas cap size on these older motors.

      Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure if this will help or hinder your search. Literature I have says that the same cap was used on the KE4, KE7, KF3, KF7, KG4, KG7, KH7, Mark5 and Mark7.

            KF5 fuel tank cap part # 36-23338 A1 (1 3/32" opening)
The correct tank should have a large HEX head filter in bottom of tank.
There is also some loss prevention hardware that goes with the cap.
Filter and hardware may also need replacement.

caps sometimes are damage or need TLC plus parts
