I hear Packard 440 is the spark plug wire I need. Is 7mm what I need?

I’m looking for suggestions on good sources and what lengths I need.

I’m considering buying a spool which I have seen for sale on E-bay.

Does NAPA have a good alternative?

Packard 440 is very good wire, but any metallic core, 7mm wire will work fine.

6′ will be enough for your motor. You need about 28" for the top cylinder, and 36" for the bottom. Roughly. I recommend 6′ will do a motor with some left.

          Thanks Chris.

Does this look like good wire to you. It mentions it being tinned. Is that a good thing?

I wonder how being tinned may affect flexibility.

I’d like to get something at the local NAPA but am not sure what to ask for.

The long spool is more than I need but I’d be glad to share it out at cost at meetings. Plus I have a few motors.

My local NAPA carries 7mm copper core wire by the foot.

                Vin Tin,

Whatever link you posted didn’t show.

The NAPA usually carries Belden wire.

If you really want the 7mm Packard wire, Brillman carries it.

I found some wire recently with a braided insulation jacket but now I can’t find the link. It seemed similar to the original OMC wires.

I’ve been using this stuff from Amazon for a while now. It works good but doesn’t have a hard outer jacket so you have to make sure it isn’t rubbing too hard on anything. If you are working on many motors, a 100′ roll can get gobbled up pretty quick.

Sorry about that. I forgot to post the link.

Yup, that will do it. Cannot really go wrong for 39 bucks for a 100′ roll.

                        Thanks Ben and all.

O’reilly’s says they can have it tomorrow or maybe Monday so that’s what I did.

Thanks Chris for the measurements and info.
