Hello! I am trying to find out what the correct control unit is for the Mercury Mark58AE. Note: The 58AE is the one with an electric starter.
I am also looking to purchase the controls and cables if anyone has them for sale.

Thank you in advance, any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Mike

        Hi Mike,
The correct controls for your motor will have two handles and be labeled as Quicksilver. They will look like the ones here:

A PM is a "private message". When you log in it is in the upper right portion of the screen.

they A’s also had a single lever peapod available. Mercs never came with controls with them . so what ever the dealer had or the costomer wanted were used.

I’m sorry to admit my ignorance on this matter (and all other matters related to outboard motors) but i am just getting into the motor portion of my project. I understand that in the dual lever design, one lever controls the power while the other controls the direction. In a single lever design, am i correct to assume that straight up and down is neutral and then forward and backward are relative to that neutral straight up and down position?
ive seen a few single arm boxes that have a reverse button on them. the ones im talking about are usually white. is that button just a precaution to prevent you from going to reverse?

Yes. Newer controls have a neutral lockout to ensure neutral for starting. Lever must be squeezed to engage forward or reverse.

If you have too many, AND not enough, you're a collector.
