Wow, really neat. I wish all my outboards had a box full of spare parts!

      Prepare to be boarded!

They work well on a deck boat or barge if you’re not in a hurry.

        Better than this Elto Pal powered raft . . . . 😆

              quote Garry in Tampa:

There were 8 different Lightfour models built. I haven’t located the reversing model, but this is the heavy duty model
for a 20" transom. The Navy had a bunch of reversing models they used to ferry cargo to shore where there was no dock.
They were set up for a 30" barge transom.

Garry. I actually had one of these. That gearcase is huge.

During the war, Zephyrs and standard Light Fours were used for rafts. The one like Garry posted here, is a barge motor, like he said. A lot of Big Four series motors were used as well.

I see a strong resemblance to my Zephyr…many similar features.

The Light Four was actually a "big brother" to the Zephyr. Very close in design.

I’d rather pack a Zephyr any day over a Light Four down to the boat!

Sorry for the bump, found this accidently and thought it may be of use to the poster. It is the War Department Technical Manual for this model and others.

Also of note, page 12 clearly outlines proceedures you are obligated to perform…."Demolition to Prevent Enemy Use".

First of three options given simply says run it without oil.

                      Enjoy!
