The Super S was rated at 11 HP for 1932 only.

To provide a clearer answer on horsepower ratings – It was 1933 when the NOA rating system was put into place, and the Super A horsepower rating was lowered from 11 horsepower to a more believable 8 & 1/2 hp. The engine design did not change one bit.

WRT lowered horsepower ratings, the Super A was not the only casualty, not by a long shot. In the Elto lineup alone, other examples of lowered HP ratings were the Super C (dropped from 25 hp to 21.2) Jr Quad (from 18 hp to 16.2) and Senior Quad (from 36 hp to 31.2).

One other example, then I’ll shut up about it – the model 500 Sea King (a disguised Lockwood Chief) was rated @ 15 HP for 1931-32. Using the NOA system, it was dropped to a more accurate 11 HP rating, which is what it was when Lockwood was selling it from 1928-30.

Thanks for clearing up the horsepower ratings! 8-1/2 hp is a little more believable, but
I’m guessing a 1950’s OMC 5 hp would kick butt?

The Fleetwins of that era are actually quite fast and all of their 8.5hp rating.
