Thanks Harry and Bucaneer. I checked the front (by steering column) of the block and indeed it says “S1G” Serial number is 34,336. Thanks for the help! In all my internet research I never saw the tip of where to look for the model info.

Hope to get her running tomorrow.

I removed the spark plug and sprayed some starter fluid. Got a pop. Ignition system is working.

Sprayed some in the carb intake and it ran for 3+ seconds. Piston and valves appear to be doing their thing.

        Also added grease.

Tomorrow I tackle the fuel system. However, the gas tank has lots of surface rust on the inside. I read something online about using E85 gas and nuts with threads, but no instructions. I assume remove the tank, add fuel and nuts, and slosh it around with access to oxygen removed? Any other ideas would be welcomed and appreciated!

This has become a fun project!

The E85 works good at removing sludge and varnish in the tank. I’m almost finished restoring a 1937 Champion that had a fair amount of surface rust in the tank and I just filled it with Evapo-rust and let it soak for about 12 hours. Cleaned it up real good.

Thank you Bobw! I will try some E85 and then Evapo-rust.

My book says a Champion S1G with serial number 34,336 is a ’41 three horse Kingfisher single.

Champion sure had some fancy names for their products back then!
