Seals for driveshaft: Lowerpump seal 493-5112, Driveshaft seal 508-3186, upper driveshaft bearing 493-3105. Lower pump seal is sealed to the impeller housing & aluminum housing. I had my housing machined down enough to install two driveshaft seals, one up & other down.
Remove the aluminum pipe for the shift shaft & replace the O-ring sealing the shift shaft. Check the aluminum housing for cover threads to be pulled out causing three leaks from high threads. I have never broke a shift shaft. Never force it, The motor must be running to shift the transmission. Be careful not to leave the shift slider open, it will migrate oil behind the piston & lock up shift assembly.

Jeff, thanks for the info. I’ll have to look at the diagrams later and see what
drive shaft seal you’re referring to, as I haven’t noticed one on mine yet.
I cleaned up the neutral detent slot a little with a round file and it seems
better now, but still plenty stiff in action.
Interesting about the "hydraulic lock" on the shift slider…… wonder
if there was a factory bulletin!

          Jeff,
          Regarding…..
"Seals for driveshaft: Lowerpump seal 493-5112"
On my unit, this is just a 1/16" thick gasket ring.

          "Driveshaft seal 508-3186"
Not on my unit, but if I shortened the bronze bushing 1/4",
I could put a .750 OD x .500 ID seal in there. Not as good
as your machine work with double seal, but better than no seal?
