Recently got a WG-4 for the low cost of $0.
It is complete other than the lower cowl. The ignition looks okay, but has yet to be tested. Unfortunately the powerhead I believe is frozen.
Not sure how the lower unit comes off, as I can’t find a good service manual and won’t drop after the removal of one nut.
Any ideas on where to go from here? I’d love to save it. The tank is undented, and is decently clean. It had never been run in saltwater either.
Thanks!

That was why the … because I wanted to check when I got home… Were you needing parts for a like Model G or J Ruddertwin? I vaguely remember something about that…

The WG-4 is more like the KD-4 I believe, but the lower end is totally different. There’s only one exposed nut. Looking for a parts manual now

Keep track of which parts go where to avoid reassembly issues, Once apart inspect and repair as required, Gear eas and water pump same as Mercury KD4 These are easy motors to work on, but, there is a learning curve of do and don’t.
Good Luck

June 1, 2026 at 2:58 pm #320565Thank you. I am familiar with the bigger motors, (KE7, KF7, KG7) etc, and some like the Mark 5/6, but Wizard had different styling.
They seem a bit simpler. Any recommendations in terms of where to find replacement impellers?
