I need help, I brought home a 54 firestone 5hp motor 25.00 dollars ( cheap enough ) everything there , checked coils they were good but I can hardly turn the tiller speed control. The tiller has a cable to the carb is there any way to lube this cable ? I also need to know how to take the handle off to see if there is a problem inside the grip. The motor is a Scott Atwater minus the bail a matic but I think the Scotts have a gear driven tiller speed control. I think there is a spring pin in the handle grip but am not sure about taking it out.
