I don’t think so. Only color in ’54 was green. ID plate would help and picture of front cover.

Mark 50 were green and some have a silver leg. Looks to me like that baby is a little newer maybe 1957. No shock absorbers so is pre ’58. Need some numbers, then go to this site that should tell you what you need to know.

I don’t know anything about Mercs but I have this ad for a ’55 40 HP Mark 55E that has the same graphics as that one.

It does appear to be a Mark 50 as it does not have the “Dyna Float” motor mounts that were introduced on 1955 Mark 55.

if you look at the mercury decal, I see green edging on it. it may have been a repaint.

Show us a picture of the face plate of the motor. How about the plate itself? I’m betting it’s a 1955 mark 55.

mark 50 did not have a decal. mark 55 had them that decal is for a 1955. but who knows what has been changed over 65 + years. BUT the exhaust snout is brass not cast so the tower is a mark 50. need serial ###### to tell for sure.

Looks like a MK50 dressed as a MK55. Some photos of the powerhead would help. This one might have been built from the parts bin.
