I never thought to chuck it in the lathe just to see how true it was
running after welding, but I did alternate my welds 180 degrees
        on the first two welds.

Received the new impeller today, and did some comparisons
between the one I had in it.
I measure the width of the vanes at the tips on both impellers,
and the new impeller vanes averaged .002 skinner.
One wouldn’t think that would make much difference,
          but perhaps, just enough.

I put a torque wrench on the driveshaft with the old impeller in,
and it was requiring 35 to 40 inch pounds to rotate the driveshaft.
After I put the new impeller in, and rechecked the torque, and it
          only took 20 inch pounds.

The torque test may not be 100 % accurate, as I always put a light
coat of Vasaline in the impeller housing before installation.
The first impeller was previously run in a bucket of water
with a drill for about 15 seconds, so it’s possible it had less lubrication
          during the torque test, lol.

Anyway, I got it running, and it’s pumping great.

I was going to put the powerhead back on for the second time,
and noticed something didn’t look right on the powerhead
base gasket……. Yikes, glad I noticed, the previous guy put
the wrong gasket on, and all or most of the incoming pump
water would have dumped directly to the exhaust.

I still have to put a new rope in the rewind, and clean up the
hood, but it appears like we have a “winner”.

          VIDEO…..
after the video, I got it to idle down quite a bit slower….. much
          easier tuning with two hands.

It’s another runner!   I’d read somewhere before about possible confusion on the powerhead base gaskets.   Made sure I had the right one when I rebuilt my CD-11.

Bob, I see on M.E. that the 1957 CD used the gasket that’s
                incorrect for the 1955.
