        Dave,

        thank you for the information, the 6volt starter is hard to find I have found all the other parts, solenoid mounting plate and cover from 56, just not that starter. I would want it to remain 6 volt if I end up getting it.

          Bonnie,
          That thing is awesome, attached is my RD-18 and has been converted to 12 volt electric start. It was rebuilt and repainted, picked it up about a month ago.

            I have a flywheel(no ring gear) from 1955 RD-17
            From my research the part number is 580109
            I just received a parts list for RD-10 / RD-11
            According to that parts list the flywheel (no ring gear) is 580109
            You can have for cost of shipping

                I have a used working 6 volt starter, Autolite MDH 4001M. Can’t remember what motor it came off but pre-1957 Evinrude/Johnsons both used this starter. Send me a pm if interested.
