      I agree,

We will be faced soon with motors that will need rebuilt because all of the used ones will be worn out. I’m keeping a few extra powerheads spare for my few favorite motors. Our hobby will soon be expensive rather than swapping parts. Just a FYI

Yea, considering that these ’57 motors are appraching their 60th year. Yikes. Better baby those motors and treat them like part of the family.

My Goodyear Sea Bee 25hp is a big twin in tire store drag. It has been completely rebuilt inside and out. Thus it is the best running outboard I own and very reliable.

However I still run it 24:1 with oil. Why?

          Longevity.

Spark plugs is cheap…Pistons ain’t. And as stated above, eventually…tho probably not in my lifetime…there will be a shortage of these power heads or the parts for them.

But I’d predict that there is a much greater likelihood that 2-cycles will be banned from running on public water long before that day comes.
