      I attached the parts manual for your motor.  The carburetor on those is different from the one pictured above.

      I feel your frustration!  I would try what Ken is suggesting….and I would do a good old-fashioned spark test with a 1/4″ gap.  I would also look at swapping out the plug itself.  Maybe it has become fouled from the rich mixture you described above?

        Well I sprayed mixture into the cylinder and it popped and ran a few strokes.  Sprayed into the throat of carb and nothing.  Again, I  re assembled carb per manual, I checked compression and have 60 lbs.  So, I have compression and spark but can’t seem to get fuel to the motor.  Still stumped! Could it be the reeds some how??   Again motor cranked right up before I cleaned carb.  Not sure what I could have done to F it up!!??

          can you feel a good suction on the carb face ???   have  someone pull the starter and you can feel the carb face.  lack of crankcase vacum could prevent sucking gas from the carb to feed the  cylinders.

            The gasket on this motor between the carb and block has a hole at the top which needs to line up with the hole in the casting. Maybe check this? It is easy to put it on upside down.

              How do I fix vacuum if I have none?  I will checks gasket.  It definitely seems like it is not sucking fuel in.

                maybe check reeds in case they are stuck ???  beyond that point if you have no crankcase vacum on the upstroke to pull in some fuel mix I’ll will let buccaneer experts  reply.

                  Ok, I am back after a long summer.  I have cleaned the carb, rebuilt the mag (and have good fire) put on new water impeller.  When I try to start it will sputter but not run.  The motor is making a high pitched squealing noise that sound like a birds when I am trying to start it.  It is weazing and sputtering.  I am getting fuel to the carb but don’t know if it is getting to the motor.  I have done the Pop test and it pops and runs a few seconds and stops.  Could I have and air leak in carb or gasket and the engine not pulling fuel?  Is that why it is making the high pitched noise? The motor ran, but rough, before I cleaned the carb.  I did not replace gasket because I looked good and I couldn’t find one.

                    just wondering what compression numbers you have ??   did you feel a good  air pull in front of carb  face

                      Air leaks:  You might be on the right track

                      Compression pressure vs. crankcase pressure.

                      Did you ever have the crankcase halves apart?

                      Is there any evidence of leakage at the crankcase seams?

                      The reed valve and the associated gasket:  Is there something not assembled correctly or is the gasket sealing surface impaired in some way?

                      ALSO:  Any chance that the exhaust is restricted with rodent debris or anything else?

                        I have 60lbs of compression and I do feel suction on the face of the carb. Carb seems to be getting fuel but the motor doesn’t seem to be sucking it in.  I have cleaned and reassembled the carb per the instructions above.  The gasket is not new but seemed fine.
