i had replaced the head gasket, and retorked it when i got home needed to be snugged up, that would not have caused the hot issue in any way? i have checked the exhaust port and cleaned it, checked the impeller and it is fine. checked for blockages in the screen and didnt see any obstructions. I sprayed fogging oil up the water tube and didnt see any signs of holes in tube from rubbing on the shaft. So I guess the next thing would be to pull the power head and see if I can shoot compressed air down the water tube.

      Thanks

I run it at about 40:1 fuel oil mixture should it be richer?

          Billy,
That is a hot topic. No pun intended. I have a 1954 JW 3hp that is mechanically pretty much the same as your motor. Plain bearings throughout. Recommended fuel mix is 16:1, which is what I run.

            I, too run mine 16:1. I wouldn’t go any leaner than 24:1.
