Hi!…I’m new to these old outboards, but now have a new addiction!….just picked up a 18 horse fastwin with electric start….can someone point me to where I can get a connector to mate to the plug on the front of the motor for the electric start/choke?
      Thanks!

That is Canadian $ but still….
I paid less than that for a running 57 Johnson electric start 18hp with nice tank.

Yeah, that’s about what I paid for the motor!….I guess I can try crimping bullet sockets to individual wires and make my own harness?…

Or, remind me to check my pile. I took the starter off of a 56 18hp and I may still have the pieces to it.
                I’ll check.
And I wont charge you $248!
                Ha!

                  Yozers,
My curiosity got the best of me.
I checked to see what I have.
It’s a FDE-12, but I only have the male part, the half of the connector inside the motor lower cowling.
                  Dang.

I had the complete system, but sold it to Greg Sefton who planed to get an electric start 18 –

I made my own external harness for a 1959 Fastwin using soft copper tubing for the connectors. Used the internal/male connector as a jig to glue up the cables/connectors with liquid epoxy, then encased it with black pool repair epoxy putty.

You can just wire this up directly to the motor. There will be only a few junctions. Much simpler.
