      Hey guys, I can’t find anything on whether my motor is supposed to have an air cleaner or air box assy. It’s just a pair of open carbs. Does anyone know if it should or where I can find an online manual or parts diagram?

      Thanks in advance

        When I helped my friend get his 1962 Merc 500 going it did not have air boxes nor did his parts motor. I think that may be normal on them. Some one else will know for sure.

            Update;

            I have been told that this motor does not have an air box or filter system in the event anybody else was wondering.

              Very few of our outboards have any sort of filter. Many, beginning with some Johnrudes of the 1950s, have an airbox of some sort, but it’s there for noise suppression and carb tuning, not for any filtration abilities…

                  Yes he brought the paper air filter in for racing his cars. much better than oil bath.
