I have this AD12 and I thought the motor was stuck.I took the water pump loose and drive shaft turns nice. Then I tighten the 4 screws to the impeller housing and again drive shaft gets tight. The plate looks new but the water pump is a little rough. impeller is not new but soft and no cracks. I did try to lube with Dawn soap.

Should I try to polish up the inside of the impeller housing with scotch bright disc. Man I don’t want to buy a impeller housing.
    Thanks for you thoughts

Sounds like a classic example of the spring loaded shock absorber below the water pump has done its job and is now longer than the 6 11/16″ it should be.

Here’s a link to an older thread about this problem:

Didn’t know what the problem could be. Thanks! if I cant get this shock absorber thing to go back to dimensions, I do have lead on another one. Maybe a water pump base also.
