I guess there’s not much risk in buying one to try out. Anybody have suggestions for specific models? I see some can have mirrors and that seems valuable, because one will not be able to make a 180 to look at the valves on a 4-stroke….
I replaced the rings in the motor
because they were stuck so bad it
wouldn’t run. Couldn’t get them
free without breaking them.
Never messed with the rod bolts
though. I had the motor 4 or 5 years.
Every time I took the motor to run
I would end up having a problem
and it would spoil my day. This was
the last straw. I don’t know if the
bolt broke or came out. I never
bothered to look. Its now hanging
on a wall in a Illinois Mississippi river
town restaurant. You got a know when
to hold em and know when to unload
em!!!! β‘ Better it happened to
me than if I had sold it.

I bought mine Monday and already have used it to "see" a couple non-outboard related things around the house. I think it will get a lot of use as time goes on!
