Long live American manufacturing!
February 11, 2021 at 5:27 pm #230218“As long as people put 3 of them on one boat, expect them to get bigger in the future”. That is a quote from an Evinrude manager, back when they came out with their V-6 200hp.

The bigger engines are still built in the US. The smaller ones are built in either Japan or China; but I’m pretty sure the China ones are designed here. As far as I know, Mercury is the only US company left that builds outboards at all. Say what you want about them, but if Fond Du Lac ever goes down, they are gonna go down swingin’, baby.
Long live American manufacturing!
February 11, 2021 at 7:29 pm #230238I’m with Carl… what the hey is “Contra” rotating.????!!!!… no credibility with me.
February 11, 2021 at 7:55 pm #230239At a mere 1,260 pounds, it’s the same weight as my 21′ bay boat. Outboard shops will have to buy bigger engine hoists!
Edit – yes, they do have a 20″ shaft length model! It’s the lightweight one at 1,260#.
