        I’ll third the kerosene for degreasing parts. I’ve been using kerosene for parts cleaning for decades.

          Or use charcoal lighter fluid.

            I’ll second the old gasoline. In addition to doing a good job cleaning all the old gunk, the oil will help to protect the paint and decals. Keep away from flames!

              Good to know! I’m definitely going to try it. My 30 hp javelin looks like it was dipped in grease!! Lol

                AS I said earlier I use kerosene. Old Gasoline works, but good luck getting the smell off your hands, out from under your finger nails, clothes, and out of your shop. I got some on my blue jeans once, picking up an old motor where the cap wasn’t sealing up good and it took 5 times through the washing machine to get the smell out. I use old gas for starting fires when I burn a brush pile of old tree branches. If I accumulate too much old gas, I take it to my county’s hazardous waste dropoff events when they come to a town near me.
