Looks great, your tool will probably be more sturdy than the actual tools.   You can always shave half of a section of that tube off and use it for an installation tool.  Now you just need to find something to fit down inside the sockets to push them out!

Way to go Bob. There is lot of satisfaction in making your own tools and coming up with a solution. Its similar to solving a puzzle. Not everyone has a mind for it.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

To release those pesky  clips I have resorted to taking a 3 inch finishing nail and  hammering the tip flat.  Grinding the side away allows the new;y  flatten  “spatula” to  slide over the hook and release the connector.

I picked up that piece of brass tubing I had and thought it might just work.  It fit perfectly over the pin and it was indeed very satisfying to see that pin back right out.  I think I can come up with a way to slice the tubing in half and make a “push” tool to insert the new coil pin into the plug.

I had a similar idea to start with and tried a small jeweler’s screwdriver to push the pin out and it just didn’t seem to work.   I figured I needed something that could fit entirely over the pin and tried the tubing.

yes some pins have  lateral hooks and tubing is needed to slide over both  if you wantto compress 2 at a time.
