I recently acquired this motor.
It is what appears to be a Scout, with no side covers and the tank from a Pal.
The Lower unit is rough, but serviceable.
The clamp bracket comes back to a Pal, but the freeze plug is a Scout (4201).
Any ideas on which direction to go? It will need a tank, and a good cleaning. I’d like to save it though.
Thanks!

Aidan,
I could help you drill out the broken stud sometime. Nothing to lose by trying.

April 7, 2026 at 7:41 pm #314524If any of you know of somebody who might have an ELTO Pal lower unit for the 1937 model let me know. I’m trying to find one for the 28th pal made.
Sorry if this intrudes upon your topic Aiden. Classifieds are either nonfunctional or nonhelpful when I get around to posting something there.

I keep a pretty close eye, on the classifieds to ensure that if an ad does not post I make that happen as fast as possible..

You need to be watching eBay. Doug Penn had one on there just a couple weeks ago. Its the later style but once you trim off the sides you can tell the difference.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
