Thank you!
Also need a half decent powerhead if possible… one of the studs for the side covers was broken off
When looking for a replacement cylinder you need to be sure that its drilled for the Scout side covers. Pal cylinders are not. Also the 37 Pal and Scout have a cast iron cyl. If you decide to go Pal, the early 4253 Pals also have the cast iron cyl. but later motors, and the model 4266, have an aluminum cylinder.

April 8, 2026 at 7:01 am #314555If any of you know of somebody who might have an ELTO Pal lower unit for the 1937 model let me know. I’m trying to find one for the 28th pal made.
Sorry if this intrudes upon your topic Aiden. Classifieds are either nonfunctional or nonhelpful when I get around to posting something there.
I keep a pretty close eye, on the classifieds to ensure that if an ad does not post I make that happen as fast as possible..
Regards
Richard
Perhaps I should say that what I mean by it not working is issues with the contacting part(I’ve had in the past and my email was not set up properly for a while), and that not too many people check the classifieds or get back to me (or seem to have the parts).

I’d like to go Scout, as that’s what was on there, and while its not an “original” Scout, its kind of unique in its own way.
I do have a Scout and a Pal, that I just got from an auction, but I like having a cross between the two.

1946 Evinrude RangerApril 9, 2026 at 12:22 am #314637I must have been too late….it’s gone. I’ll ask around some of the eBay guys to see if they have one. Marine work(outboard’s but newer than I’d like) competition today through SkillsUSA, got home at 1030 and I end up writing here at 11;30….the things this hobby gets me into.

April 9, 2026 at 12:23 am #314638also I do believe that Doug just posted a powerhead(or at least somebody did) but it was overpriced.

The drive shaft tube also includes the lower main bearing. The upper and lower mains are lined bored together. When moving this part from one block to another the alignment may be OK. Maybe not. If you find that the crankshaft is binding or locked up, that’s the problem. I’ve done it. Some times it worked out, other times, not so much. When you find something, it would be best to put the piston and cylinder on what you have, or take out the crankshaft with everything attached and move it along with the cylinder to your block. Also be looking for a 1938 Ranger model # 4252. All the parts “WERE” the same as the Scout, except for the covers and gas tank – if it hasn’t been messed with. The asking price for a Ranger is usually less than that for a Pal. They’re not common but easy to spot as they are the only Ranger that is open in the rear to reach the spark plug.

Mine rolls over great, and has about 65 lbs of compression, which is what my later Rangers have, give or take.
I have two 4407 Rangers, one with a copper fuel tank.
I think I have some parts of a Pal laying around.
The last thing I am looking for is a tank for the Scout/Ranger/Pal.
Mine has several holes, and is severely pitted.
