Still a little early to get the barrel out but, the 8
year old in me couldn’t wait to see if it would run.

Glad to see (and hear) that the “pile of parts” turned
          into a running outboard!
I need to get that garage feature where the door
automatically opens when an outboard starts!

          Prepare to be boarded!

Watching the video I was getting worried that it wasn’t going to start…. I was thinking, did the amazing Tubs loose his golden touch.
How could this be? I then figured it out. Tubs was just building the video up for a dramatic ending. 😀Great job as usual, and damn,  that engine was smooth when you idled it down.

                  Tubs,

that bad switch was like my windshield motor new from GM. It didn’t even spin until I found 1 wire not connected to the E motor. Great trouble shooting!

Its not me Bob. Unless I screw something up,
these thing usually start right up. Ole makes me
look good. I give him all the credit.
So this time I got the camera out to show how
easily it is to get one of theses going again and
this one turned out to be camera shy.
The second try I had the mixture screw open too
                    much and it flooded.
Once it was cleaned out it took off.
I made a battery box for these with 2 batteries so I’d
have a back up. The switch is to change from one to
the other. From the looks of the screws I’d better
change the switch as well. No telling what it looks
                    like inside.

What an accomplishment! I am in awe of the work that must go onto such an old motor. (And I think my ’48s are old).

Still on the fence about whether I will ever own or try to get one running. Not sure my skill-set meets the criteria.  No kidding! I’m getting better with my 40s and 50s motors, but I think I’d bust my knuckles wide open trying to start one of those.

                      Hats off to you sir!

                      Best Regards

For the most part, the older the motors, the
simpler they become. If the opportunity comes-
relatively complete -reasonable priced, step in.
Learning what to look for as far as worn or
damaged parts can be costly. Most are fairly
easy to work on although the position of the
coil and how its mounted is a pain on these.
Once you get a Super Elto dialed in, they start
easily, are very reliable, and fun to run.
