Gas Tank Crack – TIG Weld Repair?

Another question:
My 1939 Evinrude Elto Cub has a hairline crack in the gas tank that leaks.  The crack is near the base of the gas tank neck where it meets the brass ring.

Is the best fix for this is to have it TIG welded?  There is a custom classic auto shop near me that does TIG welding.  I will eventually paint the exterior of the gas tank down the road.

Would a better option be JB Weld TankWeld?

Not sure how well JB Weld TankWeld works, how well it seals,  and how long it lasts?

Use one of the gas tank sealers, that seals the tank from the inside out.
I use the Kreem brand that works well.

That is a steel tank, correct.. not a good candidate for welding in that location. The brass “ring” was likely soft soldered in pllace. The best permanent fix is to solder the split.  However as the split is up at the very top , any little dab of filler would be fine… or just keep the tank half full
