OK, here we go again, I don’t know what happened to the post the site says I posted an hour or so ago, but I can’t find it. Are our posts still reviewed before they are allowed to show up?
Anyway, short and sweet, I know this is an Evinrude Fastwin, and that’s it. Couldn’t find the nameplate anywhere. What the heck is the fuel connection doing on the faceplate? Is it a cobble up? Sure looks like it was manufactured to be there. Bought it just because it was different… As soon as I get a little a little daylight I will pop it’s top. Meanwhile, thanks in advance for any ID help, and any help with finding my original post!
Thanks,

October 13, 2019 at 8:01 am #185172It’s a 14hp Fastwin, mfd 1950-52. Yep, that’s where the fuel connector was.
October 13, 2019 at 8:05 am #185173Interesting, I’ve never seen one with remote control setup like that. That probably was cobbled up.
October 13, 2019 at 12:13 pm #185186It looks like a 1950 because of the one piece gear case. I have a 1952 it runs good not real fast. OMC made a real improvement when the 15hp came out in 1953. I have one of those also.

And FrankR, you didn’t even give me a chance to ask. A special thank you for the list it will indeed help me a lot i’m sure. I did how the original faceplate fuel connection was supposed to look. It will be a challenge to restore it to the standard two line hose end connection. Ahh, but if were easy anyone could do it..

920-764-0501October 13, 2019 at 5:03 pm #185219That was a rush job to fill a gap in the motor line up – a souped up Gale (Elto) 12 horse powerhead on a Johnson QD lower unit. We were looking for something to compete with Mercury’s Super Ten and that was NOT it. We put the powerhead on a Lightfour lower unit and found my reworked Lightfour was faster. I had trouble with the rubber motor mounts twisting and drilled them for an additional screw. The latch for the fuel connector should be on top. As it is , it allows the connector to pull away at the top and leaks when worn.

October 13, 2019 at 6:54 pm #185240That’s interesting insider information, Garry. I found 4438/01474 on a brass plug.. Is the picture in your post the correct color scheme for this model, then, Garry? Teal/dull aluminum? If I decide to undo the fuel connection Rube Goldberg modification I’ll put the fuel connector latch on the top. That’ll confuse someone 40 years from now…..and neither of us will be around to solve the mystery.
Thanks for the follow up.
