        Yes – Model 4438 is the 1950 Fastwin for a 15″ transom. A rectangular label should be riveted to the port clamp screw bracket with that same information stamped on it. The shift lever is on the starboard side – We’ll make a sailor out of you yet . . .

          Ok, thanks Gary. Sailor? Maybe, more likely just a simple retired engineer that likes to take old motors apart and fish.

          Not to wear out my welcome here, but when you get a minute, here is a picture of the mag plate/assy. Oldest one I have seen in my oh so brief career as a professional dissembler. Anything here that may jump out to you as needing attention before I move on to other parts disassembly and inspection?

            Take the contact points apart and clean all the contact surfaces. Do one side at a time so you have one to compare to if you get confused. Lots of little pieces to keep track of. They work great when clean and adjusted properly.
