OEM ones have a metal core, so that WHEN you put the engine down on its side and attempt to break it, it just bends over. It IS a special item. Whether it’s worth forty-five bucks or not is open to debate, for sure. I always use stainless screws for that; but I know that I run the risk of breaking the aluminum gear instead, if I mis-handle the motor.

This "OEM" one looks like a bargain! Only $14 on ePay!

Wow. This is where I went wrong in life. My mistake was actually throwing away all my broken stuff. I could have sold it on eBay.

Like I always say, the mental state of some people who walk among us every day, scares the daylights out of me.

            Long live American manufacturing!

David, thanks for posting this. I pass by a Grainger outlet often, so will be looking into their equivalent. I don’t pay shipping that way, just state sales tax.

I have a QD-18 That is missing the spring in the same assembly. Does anyone have a McMaster or Grainger part number for the associated spring?
