I reconditioned some old style OMC pressure tanks over the winter and it’s time to get the new hose attached. I have a number of the old style hose clamps and I’m not sure what is the best way to attach them. Was there a special kind of pliers used back in the day? Or is it just a matter of squeezing them as best you can with what you have?

March 11, 2022 at 12:36 am #256005I use a regular hose clamp to squeeze them onto the hose barb.
March 11, 2022 at 9:08 am #256009they do have a special crimper for Oeitiker clamps but I have seen common wide bladed nail puller pliers do the job
lots of choices
as far as reusing the old clamps you removed they may have weaken over time and bending them open did not help. Dealing with air leaks and fuel requires 100% reliability

I converted all my oldies to pump but keeping this one original…. no need to recrimp the hoses except for the side connector’s new hoses to the carb and air nipple
it is all refurbished (ignition carb impeller etc…)

March 11, 2022 at 11:07 am #256033it had a bit of scum/dirt (see cowl left side) but it pretty well all came off ( see right side) with some rubbing compound and elbow grease . paid $100$ cdn so about $75 US .
tank looks fine other than the usual bumps….
Does anybody now of any DUPLI COLOR paint cans that could closely match the original green, … just for small touch ups.
sorry got off the clamp issue here 🙂
