      Hi!

I recently purchased an old Johnson outboard. I tried to find the year it was made but I quickly ran into a problem : model number OK-10 doesn’t seem to be listed anywhere. Does anybody has any information on that particular model?

If it helps, it looks pretty much like my Johnson OK-75.

      Thanks,
      Olivier

        Hi Olivier,
That is a Canadian built motor. I believe the "10" series were built in 1940. In Canada, the OK15 and OK20 were very common and built all through the late 1940’s. I think that the OK 10 was only in 1940.

        Are you located in Canada?

Yes I’m in Canada. Do you have a link to a website for Canadian built outboards?

That makes sense as the KA-10 is also 1940, and other “10” Model Johnson’s are 1940.

The KA-10 may also have been built in the USA in 1940 as one list I’m looking at shows it falling within a US serial number range. Can’t say for sure though.

Don’t forget they like an 8:1 fuel/oil ratio.

Mumbles, yes KA10is US model, just pointing out that the 10 was used by Johnson for its 1940 models. But, looking at your chart it seems Johnson didn’t stick with it after ‘40. Lots of 10’s in early 40’s. Why couldn’t they just keep it simple for us. Lol

The serial number is 5 digits long (46479) so it doesn’t fit in the chart you provided 😕
Also, is there a way to know its horse power?

I think it’s rated at 8.1HP, if it’s the same as the OK15.

                        Uh-oh, OK-10. For some reason I was thinking KA-10. Duhhhh……..

Your motor is definitely a Peterboro built 1940 model. Here’s a list of CDN serial numbers and a snip from another file listing CDN serial and model numbers.
