Be aware that the rubber impeller is lubricated by the water it runs in. When working on outboards that were going to be put up for the winter, I tested them in a test tank with Anti-freez in it. This gives the pump a little extra lubrication when they are started in the spring. . . 😉

Ok everyone I hate to bring up this topic again but I am now about ready to purchase the paint and such to make it look good again. I know everyone will suggest to use HVLP to paint it but I just don’t think that is feasible for me to do for just one motor. So I know the two suppliers that are recommended the most are nymarine and reprotint. My question is about how much paint and primer will I need? I wont be painting the trim the cream color I am going to polish that. Also where besides nymarine sells the decals?

I can assure you, a motor this size, the HVLP sprayer is the way to go… That being said, this is also an option, keep in mind that you will need more than on sprayer, the glass jar can be cleaned and reused..
          It is the Preval Sprayer

3-4 cans of self-etching primer and 3-4 cans of spray paint. Reprotint is great paint. Stick with NYMarine for the decals.
