Ok you guys we’re right, it wasn’t the carburetor it was a loos plug wire. It run fine for a couple of tanks of gas. Then it happened again after I hit some big wake and flew out of the water I checked the plug wires there were connected, it runs a little with the choke out but is stalling out. The gas valve knob turns  real hard like it’s tight and I notice some stains on the garage floor under the motor. Gas is leaking from the carburetor? Maybe the float is sticking and leaking by? Then the cotton cover is starting to come off the pull cable, any advice on that or the carb?

Take of the fuel shut off. Gas should run out.
Collect it to check for dirt. Next would be the
carb. Disassemble and check for dirt (pieces
from a dried up packing washer).

Thanks tubs, I did that the gas knob turns much smoother I pulled it apart cleaned it the washer and gasket looked ok. The fuel had a fair amount of chunks the filter in the tank looks ok I haven’t been able to get it out of the tank feels like it’s seized on there. A lot of junk came out of the fuel line. I should get the gasket for the carburetor before I pull it off. I was thinking about spraying some carburetor cleaner in there today. The compression fitting on the gas valve is leaking a wee bit. Are those standard plumbing parts I was going to make a new copper fuel line.

Is there a washer in the tank on the fuel filter, if that was bad gas would probably be leaking at the tank.

Should be able to reuse the bowl gasket.
Referring to packing washers – seals for the
mixture screws. To get the filter assembly
out I clamp it in a vice and spin the tank.
