      Yep. It’s got a B Quicksilver high speed gearcase. I know they’re different, just have to find a few.

        It also has the bronze bushing on the propshaft rather than the bearings

          Austin Duggan, Steve Roskowski, Rob Lauer…. any of the racer guys will know what and where to get an impeller. Those guys are all members…Steve rebuild the cases so..

            Aidan, if you are getting a backfire it could be a condenser problem.  Intermittent spark causes  popping and farting something awful!  FYI the racer guys that run these old Mercs like to run the timing advance at full advance and control speed with a separate control to the carburetor.

              That’s possible. I haven’t replaced the condensers, but I did find that there was a slight oil slick on the underside of the magneto rotor, which makes me question an old fuel leak or a bad top crank seal. I will try condensers first. It has the Bendix Scintilla mag, and it was running poorly on one cylinder for awhile, and then I cleaned and reset the points.

              The only other question I would have is the fact that it ran great for 10 minutes or so before the backfiring started. It was like a switch flipped, rather than a slow change.
