I had the issue about 8 years ago and found the solution on one of the internet sites. To this day it has been effective. Unfortunately, I didn’t write down the product and I can’t find it now.

Anyway, cork, fuel proof dope, etc. are only temporary solutions. Ethanol dissolves them all in time, just like it dissolved the lacquer on the cork OEM floats.

I bought an ethanol safe synthetic rubber carb float. It was about the same size as the OEM tank float and it still works fine.

Maybe a google search will dig it up. My memory ain’t too good, but I seem to recall it was a Sierra part. Sorry I can’t help further…

        I never tried this

*Replace existing fuel lines with fuel-injection grade lines which are more resistant to alcohol-or with Teflon lines which are impervious to deterioration.
*Protect floats with clear, moisture-cured urethane-one coat for brass floats, three for new cork floats.

I am going to try these floats out of Looper V-6 OMC/BRP carb motors. The link is to just show you what they look like, but the price is right also. I have them left over from when I build the float bowl assy. 6 per job & the floats come with the rebuild kits. The float is the Nitril material so no problem with having to coat. Just cut it to size, drill a hole thru it, & trim off the stainless brackets. Should work well. Just a thought?

Holley float p/n 116-4 with the bracket removed. Dunno’ why it won’t work….

My phone takes rotten pictures, but I’m too lazy to get out my camera……

I say "pardon me" a lot. I had a 20H, then raced open mod sleds.
