      is it better to disconnect the shift cable in the lower unit or where it connects under the power head? taking any suggestions for ease of changing the water pump impeller. thanks, Kevin

        Remove the cap from the front of the gearcase. You will find a round “nut” threaded onto the end of the shift rod. Simply remove it (After noting how many threads stick out the bottom for reassembly).

          While there remove impeller housing, with a little heat, factory glueed it in & replace D-shaft seal..
