Man I’ve been bitten hard by the outboard bug. I got my first inboard engine last october just to have something to tinker with in the winter. When I got it done, I had to fill its void and found a 1967 British Seagull that I bought. I got that engine running, did some minor restoration to it, and enjoyed it. For a couple of days. Until I had to get something else. So I found a nice, original 1951 Johnson HD-26. Worked on it a couple of days until I found a ’63 Sportwin that just had to be rescued.. And it was cheap, too. So I worked on the sportwin and the HD simultaneously.
The I got them both running, and started aching for another little Seagull. So I found a 1960 Century that I brought home. Only "problem" was that I had to take his 1967 Chrysler 9.2 too to close the deal.
A couple of days later I got a call from a man who wanted to sell me a 1966 Evinrude Yachtwin..for 10€. Guess what? I bought it.
A little while later I was given a real nice 1961 Johnson JW-17 from a man who had heard that I love old outboards. Who could say no to a freebie?
Then, just a week later, I found an even better 1960 Johnson JW-16. For almost free.

Then I found a 1940’s Seagull 102 that I had to buy, but it was so far away from my town that I had to send my brother to pick it up since he lives in the same town as the seller.
Then, two days ago, while at my girlfriends summerhouse, I was given a 1971 Tohatsu Sea Swallow 5 hp from their neighbour because he was so impressed by my work with the hd-26 and the jw-16 I had brought with me for our fishing trip.

And last but not least, today I got a 1972 Mercury Kiekhaefer Merc 200 20 hp. From the original owner. It has been used max 30 hours in its entire life!

So.. When will this stop?! That’s 11 outboards in a couple of months!

Please share similar stories to make me feel better 😆 😳 😯 😀

Yep, you’re addicted. Don’t worry, it won’t go away until your hands touch at least a couple hundred more motors. My first motor came into my possession in 1992. A 1946 Evinrude Zephyr was saved from the scrap dealer and went under restoration.
Since then, I had more than a couple hundred outboards pass my hands, Enjoy the hobbie

You should be thinking of where your outboard storage building will go and what the best floor plan would be.

I think pictures are in order.

As per Phil’s suggestion, I’d just put a post on each corner of the property, wall it in and put a roof up.

….going to a Casino and blowing $100 in 5 minutes….. 😮 makes it an easy decision to blow $75 on an old JW 😆

It doesn’t. You are doomed! Ha Ha, Nyuk Nyuk! I’ll send you pics of my living room soon. Here is a quick question. "How many outboards does one person need?" Ans: "JUST ONE MORE" I had a few old E/rudes and a 1948 Firestone that my son used 20 yrs. ago on his wooden rowboat. Then, last July, a neighbor and I were talking about me needing recoil parts for my ’58 18hp Fastwin. I came home with a ’58 10 hp E/rude. Then I saw a ’57 35hp Johnny on ebay. Wound up taking the ferry across the Delaware Bay and down to the Virginia Peninsula (DelMarVa) and came home with it & a ’57 7.5hp E/rude for $125.00! etc, etc, etc!!!!!!!!!!!! Have fun, George
