I’m almost done with my 12hp scott mac. A3FB 2153, and I’m having a problem finding a coil. I checked with discount marine, and are out of stock. I remember reading about a Tecumseh coil that might work. I have also been told to cut down the coil heals and use omc coils. I could use some advice. Thanks. csw

Is that a Repco mag? I haven’t tried to buy any coils, but I would think they ought to be available. More info would help.

I don’t know, but Tecumseh ignitions often seem to be Repco (Phelon) clones. It’s possible that Tec lawn mower coils (point type!) might work.

OMC/BRP coils were used in my ’60 Scott-McCulloch 12 horse but I don’t recall having to modify the laminations. If anything, epoxy was used to help hold them on.

I checked, and my mag was built by Phelon. CSW

If you will post the Phelon (Repco) model number of the magneto, we can look up the Phelon part number for the coils. The Phelon model number will be stamped on the magneto plate

I have used the following coil successfully (substitute for Tecumseh 30560A).

                    The price is good, also.

I’m still lost. But the list may not go new enough anyway.
